PieceRates

How it works for general contractors

Post. Compare. Award.

Post a job free, compare proposals from verified crews, and award the work through a PEO that employs the crew on W-2. Compliance is checked before the first day, not after a claim.

  • Free and unlimited posting
  • AI-assisted job posts
  • Proposals with screening questions
  • Verified before award

Four steps from posting to a crew on site

  1. 1

    Verify your business

Sign up free and upload a certificate of insurance and proof of workers' comp. A license speeds review. Verified GCs post straight to live; until then your posts wait in review.

  2. 2

    Post a job

Describe the work in a sentence and let the assistant draft a complete post you can edit, or use the manual form. Set the trade, scope, location, pay by the piece or by the hour, and up to three screening questions.

  3. 3

    Compare proposals

Crews bid with their price, start date, approach and answers to your questions. Shortlist, message and meet by video from the job workspace.

  4. 4

    Award and start work

Send an offer with the scope of work and terms. When the crew accepts, the engagement starts. Hire one crew or several on the same job.

Who employs the crew

Two compliance paths, shown before you award

Both are allowed. Compliance is kept out of the posting flow and surfaces where it matters: at the bid review and the hire.

A PEO employs the crew

Choose a PEO from the bids on your job and it becomes the employer of record: W-2 payroll, workers' comp and certified payroll for the crew. You pay the PEO for the work and the PEO pays the crew. PieceRates is not in that chain and never takes a cut of the work.

An established crew company

A crew that carries its own license, liability insurance and workers' comp can work under its own coverage once it clears the compliance gate. You see which path applies to each proposal before you award.

Compliance in plain words

What you can see, and what is on record

  • Before you award, you see each crew's verification status as a labeled badge: certificate of insurance, workers' comp, license.
  • Every compliance event is logged, so you can show what was on file and when.
  • Classification rules are state-specific. The PEO is the employer of record; PieceRates surfaces and tracks compliance and is not a payroll provider.

What it costs

Nothing, unless you promote

Posting, receiving proposals, messaging, interviewing and hiring are free, always. You pay only if you choose to promote a job: feature it, advertise it, or make it private.

FAQ

Questions GCs ask

Is it really free for GCs to post jobs?

Yes. Post unlimited jobs, receive bids, interview, and hire, all free. GCs only pay optionally to promote a job (feature it, run ads, or make it private).

Can a GC also find work as a crew?

Yes. A GC who also does the work can switch to their crew profile, find jobs, and bid with Nails, earning crew rewards too.
