What's a Nail?
A Nail is the prepaid bid credit crews and PEOs use to bid on jobs. You earn Nails free many ways, an invite makes that bid free, and you always see the exact cost before you bid. GCs never need Nails: posting and hiring are free.
Is it really free for GCs to post jobs?
Yes. Post unlimited jobs, receive bids, interview, and hire, all free. GCs only pay optionally to promote a job (feature it, run ads, or make it private).
Does PieceRates take a percentage of what crews earn?
Never. We do not touch labor or crew money. Payments flow GC → PEO → Crew. We earn from Nails, featured placement, and PEO finder fees, never a cut of the work performed.
How do crews and workers get paid?
Through a PEO, the employer-of-record. Crew workers are paid W-2; qualifying crew companies may be paid 1099 once they clear the compliance gate. PieceRates surfaces and tracks compliance. It is not a payroll provider.
Can a GC also find work as a crew?
Yes. A GC who also does the work can switch to their crew profile, find jobs, and bid with Nails, earning crew rewards too.
What is the PEO finder fee?
When we match a PEO with a GC, the PEO pays a finder fee (a percentage of the GC's project value) only after about 60 days of running payroll. It's disclosed up front, never a surprise.
